  5. What is it?
  6. -----------
  7. Renegade Support Network (RGSNet) is an open, easy-going
  8. message network devoted to the support of Renegade 
  9. Bulletin Board Systems.  RGSNet has been in operation 
  10. since September, 1993.  Our current member list exceeds 
  11. 1100 nodes. Although Renegade is the most popular 
  12. software used in the network, any sysop is welcome 
  13. regardless of BBS software.

  54. The echos themselves generate approximately 300 
  55. messages per day (total) about 2000-2500 per week.

  57. What are the rules?
  58. -------------------
  59. 1. You must use real names.  This can be done in 
  60.    Renegade by toggling the 'R'eal names flag to 'on' 
  61.    in all the RGSNet message areas. 
  62.    
  63.    Exceptions: RGS_DOORS - Handles ok, must sign with 
  64.                            Real Name.
  65.                RGS_CHAT  - Handles ok.
  66.                RGS_BRE50 - Handles ok.
  67.  
  68. 2. You must use a front-end mailer such as FrontDoor.  I 
  69.    suggest using FrontDoor v2.12 Noncommercial, but 
  70.    other mailers such as Portal of Power, D'Bridge, and 
  71.    BinkleyTerm work fine.

  73. 3. All systems MUST be 300 baud or higher.  
  74.    Sorry, no 110 baud here.  :-)

  79. What does it cost?
  80. ------------------
  81. The services we provide are free, however, the costs 
  82. of maintaining the system resources to provide quality 
  83. mail services and file distributions do cost us money.  
  84. Some hubs and hosts may require a small fee to offset
  85. their cost of calling long distance, others do not.  
  86. If your hub/host imposes some sort of Cost Reduction 
  87. Plan, then that would be considered your cost and 
  88. donation to the network.  If your hub/host does not
  89. require a fee, or you would just like to help further 
  90. RGSNet's growth and development to help provide even 
  91. better services, please send a small contribution 
  92. ($5.00 or more) to:

  106. How do I join?
  107. --------------
  108. All you need to do is contact your local RGSNet node 
  109. for the latest InfoPack and Application Kit.  
  110. Freq'ing "RGSNET" from any of the following sites 
  111. will also get you the latest RGSNet InfoPack:

  119. Run the file APPGEN.EXE to automatically create a short 
  120. text file with vital information needed to apply.  Once
  121. you have completed the application, netmail the file 
  122. created with your information to your state host 
  123. (preferably, if there is one), or the Network 
  124. Coordinator at 50:50/0, or upload it to 
  125. 619-862-0072 Alternate Reality BBS.
  126.  
  127. If you know your state host's address, please send the 
  128. application to that address, the turn-around time is 
  129. much quicker that way.
  130.  
  131. Once your application is reviewed, you will be sent a 
  132. node number and nodelist via netmail in ZIP form.  
  133. Or, if you cannot be reached via netmail, we will try 
  134. our best to send it via your BBS. Please allow 7-10 
  135. days for your application to be reviewed and a new 
  136. node number assigned (we receive them almost every day 
  137. and it is sometimes difficult to keep up), please 
  138. be patient.
